Because there was a dire need in the area for youth sports fields (especially soccer fields for the rapidly-growing local soccer program), Pecan Grove utilized some of their savings from other areas to give back to the community and improve the land surrounding the new offices and community center for this purpose. The land was cleared, manicured, seeded, watered and nurtured until ready for use.
Since then, it has been the location for many seasons (now both spring and fall) of fun for the Kirbyville Youth Soccer League (KYSL) practices, camps, and games; Little League team practices; family reunions and picnics (on the many picnic tables provided by Pat Manchac and his former KHS shop students); the annual East Texas Superstars (ETS) competition; and also includes Frisbee goals, a lighted sand volleyball court, obstacle course and free fun and recreation for Residents and others in the community. Plans are also in the works to construct a walking/jogging path as funds permit. Each Halloween, another five-acre wooded parcel is host the fast-growing "Haunted Hayride," highly-popular with area youth!
