What is Public Housing?
Public Housing was established to provide decent and safe rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public Housing comes in various sizes and types of housing, including single family houses, duplexes, and multi-unit apartment buildings. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (click on to direct website) provides federal funds to local housing agencies, including Kirbyville Housing Authority (Pecan Grove). In turn, these agencies manage the housing for low-income residents that fall below the Medium Income Limits of Jasper County.

Two-Person Household $44,050
Three-Person Household $49,550
Four-Person Household $55,050
Five-Person Household $59,500
Six-Person Household $63,900

How Do I Apply?
If you are interested in applying for public housing, applications are available at the Pecan Grove Office. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Applications are also available above the drop box at the main office. Click on APPLICATION to view and complete. The application may also be printed from this website and mailed to Pecan Grove, 414 Vallie Avenue, Kirbyville, Texas 75956 or faxed to 409-423-3396. If you are unable to complete the application, a Pecan Grove employee will assist you, by appointment only. Applicants must provide the following information to determine eligibility:

- Names of all persons who will be living in the rental unit, the sex of those persons, their date of birth, and their relationship to the family Head of Household
- The present address and telephone number of the applicant family
- Names and address of current and previous landlords
- The names and addresses of employers, banks, and any other income sources that the Housing Authority would need in order to verify income and deductions, and to verify family composition.
*Must be presented at the time of leasing.
- Photo ID's (All Household Member age 18 and over)
- Social Security Cards (All Household Members)
- Birth Certificates (All Household Members)
- Immigration Information for non-citizens (If Applicable)
- Proof of Income for all household members (Some information may not be counted toward rent, but all information must be reported so that we can determine what will or will not apply. Failure to report information is a violation of Federal Law and can result in denial of the application and/or eviction).
- Proof of Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses for Elderly/Disabled applicants only, (If Applicable). The Elderly/Disabled member must be the Head of Household, Co-head or Spouse to apply.
- Documentation from a Licensed Veterinarian on health, shots, and spay-neutering for pets, (If
Applicable).
